About this Web Site

I originally had a lot of the contents of this page on the front, index page. But it seemed a bit cluttered.

This website is still under heavy construction. I have installed a temporary navigation menu to take you to the pages that actually exist now.

If you want to see what's here so far, use the drop-down menu Index to SilverBear's Pages at left.

Write to tell me where you see something that needs fixing, improving, and what I ought to add but haven't yet. Please.

In a way, it can be your website, too. All material published on this website is Copylefted under the GNU General Public License, which is a legal copyright license. Without denying original authors credit for their work, it allows anyone to use, modify and build on whatever they find of value in the original work. Links to material hosted on other websites are not covered by this copyleft: when going to those sites you will need to find out the various authors' policies yourself.

If you have a website with material you think would be beneficial to readers of this site, let me know and I'll include a link to it. If you have written material you think is helpful but haven't got a website, let me look at it. If I agree, I'll be happy to put it up here as a page with your name on it as author. The only stipulation would be that you must put a "copyleft" statement at the bottom of the page, similar to what's at the bottom of this one. It need not be under the GPL if you don't want. Let's discuss it.

The design of this website, with the fly-out navigation menu is my own, arrived at with guides and pointers from other excellent websites focusing on CSS and HTML techniques. But mostly, through hours and hours of trial and error, I was able to arrive at CSS and XHTML markup that is W3C certified standard and fast. It works in all browsers except MS Internet Explorer, which does not comply with international Web standards.

As is noted in the comment fields of the css file, the markup for this navagation system is copyleft under the GPL. If you want to use my CSS and XHTML markup in order to make a navigation system for your own website, you are perfectly free to do so. provided you acknowledge me and abide by the terms of the GPL as linked, and published on this website.

Appeal for support:

What I'd really like you to do, is contract with me to design your website for $$. I'm totally disabled, and could use any cash influx to help take the financial burden off my long-suffering wife. But if you can figure out how to adapt my CSS and XHTML yourself, you are free to do so under the terms of the GPL.
